Caerleon Carnival August 1956 - Mill Street
Do you recognise anyone here?

The house to the right of the picture looks as if it was on its last legs… and it was. Shortly after this photo was taken the cottage was demolished. The last occupant was Miss A. Gray. The house to the left, immediately recognisable by the brickwork around the windows, is of course still standing.

Lionel Turner kindly sent us the picture. He used to live across the road in 52 Mill Street, the end house of Cecil Terrace. After the war Lionel lived for a while in the former army camp at the top of Lodge Hill. You can read his memories of Bygone Caerleon in a new Caerleon Net feature.
