Plate IV from "A History of Monmouthshire" by D Williams, 1796. It was drawn by the Rev. I. Gardnor and engraved by Rev. I. Gardnor and J. Hill.
It is interesting to compare this picture with those in Coxe's "Monmouthshire" published just a few years later - particularly "The Remains of the Castle Works Near The Usk"

The fine house in the centre of the picture has now gone, so too have the tower-like remains in the river wall.
